Client communication and permitting
“Client communication and permitting” (Architect) is projected to see AI enter in 2033 and be largely replaced by 2045+.
What this task is
Architects go back and forth with clients over requirements, budget and revisions, and coordinate with planning, fire and other authorities so the project can move through each stage of approval.
How AI replaces it
The work depends on trust, negotiation and reading each party's interests; AI can currently only help prepare documents and meeting notes. Deeper AI involvement may start around 2033, with replacement unlikely before 2045.
What stays human
Architects remain the go-between for clients, authorities and contractors, using AI to prepare presentations and minutes while putting their energy into persuasion, negotiation and maintaining long-term relationships.
