What this task is
Gate guards verify the identity of people coming and going, register visitors, check vehicles, operate turnstiles and barriers, and keep order at the entrance throughout the day.
How AI replaces it
Face-recognition turnstiles verify residents and staff, visitors book online for access codes, and plate-recognition barriers admit registered cars. These spread through residential compounds and business parks from 2016, and by 2025 routine checks at most gates are done by systems.
What stays human
Guards deal with visitors the system cannot verify, couriers and delivery riders, and unusual situations, while still being the visible presence that keeps order on site.
